Interlude Home

Square Footage : 2400sft
Project Scope : Renovation, Reimagining the layout, spaces & interior design

A decade-old bachelor pad was transformed into an elegant 2 bedroom home for a young couple and their pet. Their requirements were simple – a spacious master bedroom, a simple guest bedroom and a large space to entertain.

The home opens into the colourful bar, immediately setting the tone for a good time. A concealed cabinet, a laving serving counter with concealed coolers, the comfortable lounge seating and the circular accent lighting create an unforgettable ambience. The bar opens up to a large living room and extending into a fantastic open balcony that is a great workspace by day and a cosy spot for friends to catch up by night.

Side note: In a world where we are always trying to enclose balconies into living rooms, the client recognised the need for one on their 10th floor and we were able to carve one out to grow into a very important part of their entertainment space.

The powder room reflects the same energy as the bar and living room. It is a space that is curious with its bold cheetah-printed wallpaper and ceiling-hung tap.

The wardrobes of the master bedroom were blocking off their largest window and the room was succumbing to damp and mold due to a lack of nature’s best. A simple replanning of the room and opening up of these closed windows dramatically changed the ambience by flooding the space with light and opening up the windows to let in freshness. The small walk-in wardrobe is doubled in size by the use of mirrored shutters. Colours are kept minimal, and the wooden herringbone flooring is complemented with various textures in grey through lime-plastered and fluted walls. A small narrow bathroom was extended to become a two-basin ensuite while keeping to the clients' wish for a beachy vibe for their bathroom.

The guest bedroom is a unique space too. While the window was opened up to let in tons of light here as well, we wanted this room to also feel like a young person’s guest room on a limited budget. We were able to achieve a sophisticated look through a completely monochromatic approach, with a repurposed bed and side tables, painted white, a poker table top was used as the base for a 100-year old inherited gold blouse that is used as art work, and the monkey (yes, you read correctly) wallpaper. The bathroom reflects the same monochrome look.
